On 24th August 2015, Rescue Foundation organized in Aiud prison a visit of the TAUGH TALK missionary team from England. Their work is one unconventional, and I quote from their website: " Tough Talk is a registered charity dedicated to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ in an informal way that appeals to people who would not normally go to a church meeting. Tough Talk is made up of a group of men with backgrounds of ex-bouncers, ex-football hooligans and ex-East End hard men who have turned their backs on their past. Many of the team are very keen powerlifters. All the team feel that having let God into their lives, they now have an urgent need to share their experiences with the hope of helping others. They have found that the message of hope in Jesus Christ reaches people from all backgrounds and age groups.”
In the morning at 10 o'clock on the sports ground of the prison unit, the team made up from: Arthur White, former world weightlifting champion, Ian McDowall bodybuilding champion and others spoke in front of more then 150 detainees about their life experience. As of successful people with families, some with million-dollar businesses, have come to have no more. Some because of steroid use and later drugs, others because of criminal career in parallel with sports life, they lost everything but came to know God. Now they live differently , in legality and fulfilling a purpose in life ,they want to share with others the joy and peace after the meeting with God. The speeches were interrupted by brief musical moments but also demonstrations of Power lifting and bodybuilding with the bench and weights that were donated at the end to Aiud prison unit. A great success was the competition of pushing the bar to the chest between inmates.
At the end the English friends donated 150 parcels with personal higienic items and also christian books.
We believe that their mission had an impact in the lives of many and we hope to work with them in future.
